Here’s how to use a garage or loft conversion for storage

Millions of people across the UK use eBay to trade online, and many find they need more space to store their products – without looking at the possibilities of a high-quality garage or loft conversion.

Instead of paying to hire expensive storage space or even moving to a bigger home, homeowners can often use the space they already have.

According to eBay’s own figures, there are 168m worldwide users of the online auction platform, with 23m Brits logging on every single month.

Meanwhile, Britain and Germany are collectively responsible for a 50% growth in eBay millionaires between 2013 and 2017. Figures quoted by The Independent show the number of million euro businesses selling on eBay grew to 1,095 from 731 in Germany between 2013 and 2016, while million pound-plus businesses rose to 663 from 443 in Britain over the same time period.

eBay isn’t the only option to stay-at-home entrepreneurs, either. Etsy is another popular online marketplace which allows people to sell homemade, vintage and craft items.

Don’t cut corners with a garage or loft conversion

Anyone planning to use their garage or convert a loft for storage should remember to insulate those areas to prevent damp that could cause damage to their products.

Good quality spray foam insulation will also keep heat locked in while combating damp and mould and reducing household bills.

Unlike other insulation materials, spray foam sets solidly which means there is no shrinkage over time. Inferior insulation materials also often act like a sponge, absorbing moisture and making problems such as damp even worse. That’s the last thing you need if you’re using your loft or garage to store products which you ultimately intend to sell!

It’s also important to ensure that lofts and garages are properly ventilated so your home remains breathable and healthy. This will prevent a mould-causing build-up of damp and condensation.
