Regulations give homeowners better energy efficiency information

 In Heating, News

COMPULSORY measures designed to give homeowners and businesses more information about energy efficiency have come into force.

Heating systems will now be labelled with an energy performance table similar to the charts already used for fridges and televisions.

The Energy-related Products Directive (ErP) and Energy Labelling Directive are in place across Europe.

Installers have a set of clear guidelines about how to measure the energy efficiency of heat pumps, which are a key component in heating systems.

Meanwhile, consumers can easily compare the performance of systems using a format they will already be familiar with.

Here at Noreus, we welcome the regulations and hope they encourage more people to take up renewable heating systems.

Our own solar assisted heat pumps and air source heat pumps will carry an A+* or A++* band.

A solar assisted heat pump works by absorbing atmospheric heat using an aluminium collector. It generates hot running water and can work as an alternative to gas or oil central heating.

Air source heat pumps transfer the air from outside to an indoor unit where it can be used for heating or to produce hot water.

However, ensuring that heat pumps are energy efficient is only one part of the story.

There are many more ways that you can make sure your home is as environmentally friendly as possible, which will save you money too. Ask us about high-quality insulation to stop heat loss in the first place.
