Swimming pool heating

Capture the power of renewables to heat your swimming pool

Enjoy a warm swimming pool all year round thanks to the power of renewable energy.

An air source heat pump from Noreus not only allows you to heat your pool 365 days a year but it’s environmentally friendly too.

Here’s how our swimming pool heating works

We love finding green solutions for homeowners who want to unlock the potential of their property.

If you’ve invested in an indoor swimming pool, you might be looking for an efficient and reliable way to heat the water all year round. Unfortunately, it can become a real drain on your pocket. A swimming pool is costly and many traditional pool heaters just aren’t up to the job.

That’s where a brilliantly clever and energy efficient air source heat pump really works.

It’s a little bit like an air conditioning unit, except it operates in reverse. Air source heat pumps work by absorbing heat from the atmosphere, which in turn is used to warm the water in an indoor or outdoor swimming pool to a wonderfully luxurious temperature of up to 30C.

Although an air source heat pump requires electricity to run and reach the required temperature, for every unit of electricity consumed, four units of heat energy is produced – meaning it’s an incredibly energy efficient and cost-effective method to heat your swimming pool.

It’s also a great choice to heat outdoor swimming pools during the summer months.

What’s more, when combined with our solar thermal solutions, you could save even more money.

Swimming Pool Heating FAQs

Can I use a solar thermal system to heat my swimming pool?

Yes, you generally need a solar collector equivalent to 50% of the pool surface area.

Can an air source heat pump heat my swimming pool?

Yes, an air source heat pump is the system of choice for most swimming pool owners.

Why can I use a standalone solar thermal system to heat my swimming pool only in summer?

Solar thermal systems capture the energy of the sun which means they work best during the sunnier summer months. However, there are still significant cost savings to be made when compared with traditional pool heaters.

As such, these are still a great choice and provide a great, all-year round solution when combined with other renewable systems such as an air source heat pump.

Can I qualify for the RHI if I install an air source heat pump and/or solar thermal system?

If you use an air source heat pump and/or solar thermal system to solely heat your swimming pool, then you won’t qualify. However, if you also use it to provide heating for the rest of your home, under the current scheme, you can apply for the RHI, which generates a quarterly payment for seven years.

What our clients say

  • We are very pleased with the spray foam insulation system and have noticed big difference in the warmth of the house.

    Mr & Mrs A.A Wilmslow
  • The men worked very hard and did a good job. 10/10 for punctuality and cleanliness of the treatment team.

    Dr J. Stockport
  • .......... and since we only had mains electricity power laid on at the bungalow, our hot water had always cost us a fortune using the immersion heater.  The Solar Thermal system you installed - especially the twin cylinder layout - means that we don't waste any available power and the running costs of the system are minimal. And we have got hot water! Thank you also for installing the battery backup system to get us over power cuts that we get!
Mr. and Mrs. T. C.  Lincolnshire
  • After you had installed the Solar Hot Water system at our house, I asked you to have a look at the system that had been supplied and installed  at our house in Mallorca by a local company and which had never worked properly and was always breaking down. After considerable re-engineering of the system by yourselves, the system now works! Thank you. I am now asking you to supply a small system for my factory in England.

    Mr. P.S.  Lancashire and Spain
  • The Solar Hot Water system you installed works perfectly, and even survived the house being struck by lightning four weeks later - even if you did have to come out to reset the controller. Our granddaughter still calls it 'Sunshine Water', so I think the name has stuck!

    Mr. and Mrs. B.A.    Nottinghamshire
  • The replacement cylinder that you had made for me to go with the Thermodynamic system you installed works well, and our existing thermosiphon towel rail system is now much more easy to regulate. As you said we would, we now have much improved hot water flow to the taps. Wish we had called you in before now.
Mr. and Mrs. P.E. Ruthin, North Wales.
  • The Thermodynamic system you fitted for us to work with our existing Solar Thermal system is working well. Together with our existing Photovoltaic system, we now have the best of all worlds! Self sufficient!
    Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Flintshire
  • As we only have electricity supply to the new flat I was pleased to find out about thermodynamics. I am impressed with the technology and would recommend Noreus for the whole experience.
    Mr S. Northumberland
  • We have absolutely no complaints.
The two men were efficient and no bother at all.
    L.J Derbyshire
  • We found the entire operation was carried our to our entire satisfaction.
We found all people involved very pleasant and easy to deal with.
