Churches sign up to green energy pledge

 In Energy Bills

Foor A practical way to show their commitment to saving the planet, churches are being urged to sign up to a campaign backed by two leading charities.

The Big Church Switch is supported by Tearfund and Christian Aid and asks churchgoers of all denominations to look at using renewable sources of energy.

In fact, Thomson Reuters Foundation has reported that 424 churches across the country have already signed up to the scheme.

It would seem that Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic church has already voiced his concerns about the use of fossil fuels.

He has pleaded for immediate measures to reduce carbon emissions and tackle pollution.

The Big Church Switch is a practical way for churches to show their support – and take control of their energy bills too.

Too many churches find themselves locked into expensive contracts for electricity and heating. This in turn places a huge financial burden on congregations.

The fact that this campaign has been launched is fantastic. It reflects a real desire for change as more people, businesses and organisations turn to green, clean energy.

If you would like a member of the Noreus team to talk to your congregation about green energy, call 01782 756995.
