Campaign aims to make people more aware of the dangers of air pollution

 In Air Pollution, News

A GROUP of environmental lawyers has launched a legal bid after it says the UK Government has missed air pollution targets.

ClientEarth, which campaigns on issues of environmental law, alleges that the Government is in breach of a Supreme Court Order to improve air quality which is estimated to cause up to 40,000 premature deaths a year.

Now it has submitted papers to the High Court in London, after the Government released an air improvement strategy in December.

However, ClientEarth says that this strategy is not adequate as it means the UK would only meet its target in 2025.

Here at Noreus, we hope the campaign will make people more aware of the effects of air pollution.

Those who live in towns and cities are highly exposed to traffic pollution, and shutting the door and closing the windows isn’t going to give enough protection.

That’s because if you live in a poorly ventilated home, toxins from outside can become trapped inside and build up over time.

The only way to tell how much damaging pollution is present inside is by testing the indoor air quality.

Meanwhile, people who want to support ClientEarth’s legal challenge can go to their website to find out more or take a look at their Healthy Air campaign.
